The Ho-Chunk Nation places a high value on education. Nation leaders believe education is an investment that can create a stronger Wisconsin economy and stronger local communities.
The Ho-Chunk Education Department strives to provide ample opportunities to young Ho-Chunk members to help them become life-long learners.
Several scholarship and grant programs are in place to help Ho-Chunk students succeed. Forrest Funmaker, Ho-Chunk Education Executive Director, explains, "I believe our programs are here to help our nation to grow in two different ways. We have an education philosophy that we want to see the best. Not only from a mainstream point of view, but a traditional point of view."
The Ho-Chunk Nation encourages its members to share their educational experiences so they can learn from one another.
