2009-02-23

The Ho-Chunk Nation will host competitors from around the United States and Canada its 10th annual March Madness Basketball Tournament. The tournament runs March 5th through the 8th at the Nation's House of Wellness in Baraboo.

Scott Gilbeck, the House of Wellness Fitness and Recreation Director said, "This tournament represents the Ho-Chunk Nation and their competitive drive and spirit and being active. The big thing is with this tournament is the hospitality, it's a friendly family atmosphere."

Top prize is 10-thousand dollars for the winning team. The visitors also generate thousands of dollars for the local economy.

Gilbeck added, "A lot of people stay at the Ho-Chunk Hotel and Casino and they also stay at the water parks and obviously they're buying food and it definitely helps create positive tourism for this area."
