Ho-Chunk's Green Tradition Grows
2009-03-16

The Ho-Chunk Nation's green efforts continue.

The Ho-Chunk Casino in Baraboo is preparing to switch to lower energy consumption LED lights on all its slot machines.

In addition, high efficiency lighting is being installed in many of the Ho-Chunk buildings around the state.

And, the Nation has also developed guidelines for purchasing environmentally-friendly products and is analyzing its trash and water-use systems to reduce waste.

Ho-Chunk Environmental Specialist Kevin Gunderson says it's all part of an effort to help the Nation save money and more importantly create good green examples for everyone in Wisconsin. "To become better stewards of the environment," said Gunderson. "And the Nation because it is such a large entity feels the need to set an example for other people to see and employees to drive that message home that everything we do has an effect on the environment and every little thing you do makes a big difference."
